Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile and Cross Browser Functionality Slip to Q4

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Q2 update might be a bit of a disappointment for those looking for enhanced browser support or mobile functions. A blog post by Dennis Michalis, General Manager of Dynamics Marketing, on July 6th 2012, stated that key functions around mobile and cross browser support would slip out to the Q4 release.

On July 19th, as we committed, our Q2 release will include Microsoft SQL Server 2012 support, Industry templates and certifications for our online service. After listening to the feedback from our customers and partners we are delaying availability of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile and cross-browser support. These were previously scheduled to be delivered in the Q2 2012 Service Update, and we now plan to deliver them in the service update scheduled for Q4 2012.

I am sure is disappointing to IT managers and executives who want to access CRM data via their preferred browser or mobile device. Microsoft is seriously behind Salesforce and Oracle on this front. Given the heroically long wait, we can only hope they bring some game changing tech to table for Christmas.

With 33,000 customers and counting. Microsoft Dynamics CRM is not going anywhere. The question I have, is can they gain meaningful share given how the IT landscape is changing. Do they acknowledge that the landscape is even changing at all?
